About

Jordan Newton

What I do

I design products end-to-end, from early research and concept work through to high-fidelity flows, prototypes, and the small details that make a thing feel finished.

More recently, I have leaned into the building side of the craft. AI tools have made it possible to take an idea, prototype it in code, and put a working version in front of real people in a single afternoon. It's changed how I think about design.

How I work

I'm a generalist by instinct. I'll happily move between a research interview, a Figma file, a working prototype, and a stakeholder room in the same day, and I think the best design decisions usually live somewhere across those boundaries.

I care about clarity, calm interfaces, and respecting people's attention. I write a lot, sketch even more, and ship in small, deliberate steps.

  • Global Web Index (GWI)

    Nov 25 – Present

At GWI, i was part of the API/MCP Squad, working on shaping the MCP, and the product thinking behind it. I helped upskill the design team with AI tools, contributed toward the design system, and worked on the integrations.

Exploring now

I am spending a lot of time at the edge of design and AI, figuring out how analyst, designer, and PM workflows shift when models become collaborators rather than tools.

Outside of that you'll find me running, reading product writing, tinkering with small side projects, and building things like my custom PC or mechanical keyboards. I also love a good hike around the UK when I can get away for a day.

Education

  • Southampton Solent University / BA (Hons) Graphic Design
  • Carshalton College / Software Engineering
  • Google / UX Design
  • Nielsen Norman Group / Measuring UX and ROI

Design community

I'm heavily involved in London's design community, at meetups, studio visits, and events around the city, catching up with other designers and swapping notes on the work.

I meet industry designers often, and spend a good amount of time coaching junior designers as they build portfolios, navigate interviews, and figure out the early shape of their careers. Those conversations keep me close to the craft outside of day-to-day product work.
